Architect Wen Zhou is a Project Leader in the Studio’s Chicago office, working on cultural and civic projects. Interested in projects such as the WMS Boathouse and the University of Chicago Campus North Residential Commons, Wen was drawn to the Studio by a shared design philosophy, aesthetic, and care for community. With a broad interest in both science and art, she enjoys collaborating with structural engineers, using technology to challenge architectural research, visualization, and design thinking. For her, architects are Homo Ludens; they create by making and create by playing.
Hailing from Yueyang, China, on the southern shores of Dongting Lake, Wen enjoys climbing, pottery making, learning to code, and participating in urban research and education. Her favorite natural landscapes include the Great Canyon National Park and Devil’s Lake State Park. Her favorite body of water is the Yangtze River. She earned her bachelor of architecture degree from the University of Nottingham and her Master of Architecture from Columbia University, where she was awarded the Honor Award for Excellence in Design. She previously worked for two years at Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates and interned at Arata Isozaki Shanghai Studio.
