Architect David Swain is a Senior Project Leader in Studio Gang’s Chicago office. His twenty-plus years of experience leading project teams spans building types and has allowed him to hone an expertise in the integration of sustainable design technologies and exterior envelope detailing for large-scale, LEED-certified projects. Drawn to a design career for its melding of the analytical and the creative, David was pulled to the Studio for its ability to create thought-provoking architecture that is informed by emerging technologies and the natural environment. He is currently part of the team working on the Kresge College renewal project at the University of California Santa Cruz.
Born and raised in Chicagoland, David earned his Master of Architecture from the University of Michigan and his Bachelor of Architecture from Iowa State University. He brings his dual interests in nature and technology into professional service as the Co-Chair of AIA Chicago’s Committee on the Environment. Outside of architecture, he’s always up for exploring the hidden gems of Chicago’s neighborhoods, playing tennis or cycling, and otherwise enjoying the outdoors.
