Andi Altenbach (she/her) is Studio Gang’s Archivist and Librarian, working out of the Studio’s Chicago office. In charge of managing the our archives and library, she develops strategies to address the Studio’s information needs and preserve its history.
Andi holds a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Bachelor of Arts in History from Beloit College. She previously worked at Northwestern’s Pritzker Legal Research Center; the corporate archive of Grenzebach, Glier and Associates; and the Evanston Public Library.
Architecture resonates with Andi’s interest in history. She is intrigued by the ways buildings reflect their time and place and the people who built them—what messages they carry from the past, and what messages today’s buildings will tell future generations. She was drawn to the Studio for its research focus and holistic approach to projects that considers communities and the environment.
Hailing from Blue Island, Illinois, Andi considers Chicago home. Her favorite landscapes include the Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois, where prairie suddenly gives way to ridges, hills, and small waterfalls. Her favorite bodies of water include the Calumet River.
