Architect Arthur Liu is a Design Principal and the leader of Studio Gang’s New York office. Since joining the Studio in 2015 as one of the first team members in New York, Arthur has led some of our most high-profile and complex projects in the city and beyond, including the award-winning 11 Hoyt, a residential tower in Brooklyn, the upcoming Shirley Chisholm Recreation Center in Flatbush, Brooklyn, and the University of Chicago John W. Boyer Center in Paris, the Studio’s first built project in France.
Currently, Arthur serves as design manager of NewYork-Presbyterian The Beacon, a new healthcare center in New York. In addition to his project work, he contributes to Studio-wide initiatives, including the Sustainability Task Force, helping to advance the Studio’s environmental goals.
Throughout his career, Arthur’s work has explored how highly constructed urban environments can be thoughtfully integrated with natural systems. In addition to his extensive experience navigating the city’s codes and zoning regulations, Arthur brings a passion for design and a drive to make the world more delightful through architecture.
Arthur holds a Master of Architecture II with Distinction from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Architecture with Honors from Cornell University. Outside the Studio, Arthur explores form and color through risograph printing, using the medium for bold, vibrant experimentation.
