This special issue of the French architecture and design magazine Archistorm is dedicated to Studio Gang, highlighting the Studio’s approach to designing unconventional learning environments across the United States and France.
Organized into four thematic categories—learning with nature, learning through making, training mind and body, and learning through convening—the sixteen projects featured in the issue range from university buildings to museums and public parks. In addition to this portfolio section, the magazine also includes a foreword from French critic Christophe Catsaros, a firm profile, and an interview with Jeanne Gang.
The publication was accompanied by an exhibition, Dimensions of Discovery: Environments for Learning (Dimensions de la découverte : environnements d’apprentissage), held at Galerie Archilib in Paris from September to October 2023.
“…the Gilder Center and the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts embody the new adaptability that could characterize an era where reuse becomes the rule. A world where things are not simply built, then razed and rebuilt again, but adapted and constantly adjusted to one another.”
