Project Leader - Chicago

Studio Gang is seeking an experienced Project Leader with a minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience to join our friendly and supportive culture of design professionals. Licensure is preferred but not required.

Project Leaders are responsible for leadership and coordination of project team members and consultants throughout all phases of design, from conceptual design through construction administration.

Required Skills and Experience
- Must possess and have demonstrated the design, communication and organizational skills needed to lead an A/E team through all stages of project design, documentation, construction, or project completion.
- Strong design and communication skills.
- Ability to generate and/or identify strong design ideas and concepts simultaneously with internal project teams and external project consultants.
- Previous experience as a team member on projects for a significant portion of the design and construction sequence.
- Experience with the on-going administrative management of projects including maintaining project schedules, reviewing project scope progress, project-related costs, pre-approving invoices.
- Exceptional time management skills for themselves as well as for their team and consultants.
- Advanced knowledge of drafting and 3-D rendering software (Rhino, AutoCAD, Revit).
- Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and graphic sensibilities.

Responsibilities
Included but not limited to:
- Managing all aspects of assigned projects.
- Coordinating the design, technical, and administrative aspects of the project.
- Organizing internal design reviews and workshops.
- Ensuring the design is advanced appropriately and iteratively through each stage of the design process.
- Working with Studio Gang’s Design Management leaders to estimate fees, determine scope of work, prepare, and refine proposals and contracts.
- Managing project budgets, schedules, and programs.
- Serving as primary liaison to clients, engineers, consultants, and stakeholders to bring schedule, budget, and scope of work to completion.
- Coordinating with Studio Gang’s Marketing and Communications team to prepare images and narrative for external press and promotion.
- Mentoring and developing other staff and team members.
- Participating in presentations and meetings as needed and requested.

Designer - Chicago

Studio Gang is seeking a full-time, intermediate level Designer to join our Chicago team. Designers at Studio Gang assist with all phases of project design, from conceptual design to construction administration. Designers perform work on defined segments of a project under the direct supervision of experienced Project Leaders.



Responsibilities
- Organize information into design proposals through iterative sketching, modeling, diagramming, rendering, and written language.
- Seek creative and innovative solutions to assigned tasks and develop associated research and documentation.
- Contribute to, and potentially manage aspects of, the planning, design, coordination, and documentation of the assigned project.
- Produce coordinated design and construction drawings, documents, and specifications.
- Conduct material research and prepare material boards and samples for review.
- Actively contribute to meetings with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
- Observe construction progress to facilitate the completion of projects in accordance with design intent and technical requirements.
- Participate in shop drawing and sample review.
- Assist in the preparation of punch lists and field observation.
- Work collaboratively with the project team and provide mentorship to colleagues.
- Engage the life of the Studio through task forces, events, research, and mentorship.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Architecture with at least 4 years of professional experience.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
- Strong knowledge in Rhino, AutoCAD, Revit, and 3D rendering software
- Prior experience fabricating physical models is required

Interiors Architect or Licensed Interior Designer

Studio Gang is actively seeking an experienced Licensed Interior Designer and an Interiors Architect to collaborate with and support our diverse group of thinkers, designers, architects, and project leaders on a wide range of projects.

These team members will work with the Studio’s Design Principal leading the practice's interior architecture scope. Together this team will advance the interior architecture for all our projects—which include civic, cultural, institutional, office, and residential buildings at various scales—and be a pivotal part of the team developing our approach designing from the inside out to create inviting, inclusive spaces for people and communities to enjoy.

The ideal candidates will be excited to engage our iterative design process, collaborate with team members and external stakeholders, and contribute to our cohesive approach unifying interiors and exteriors. They should be detail-oriented, highly adept at internal and external communication, curious, and thoughtful.

Licensed Interior Designer

Day-to-day responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
- Implementing and testing of design concepts
- Developing details and finishes for inclusion in contract documents
- Research, procurement, and selection of materials and furniture maintaining close relationships with clients and vendors
- Contributing to multiple projects in various phases

Requirements include:
- 7+ years’ experience as licensed interior designer with specific experience in FF&E and design and construction sequences
- Extensive experience with interior architectural drawings and documentation on a variety of project types (e.g., cultural, institutional, higher-ed, multi-family residential)
- NCIDQ certification required
- Knowledge of interior design detailing and millwork
- Expert knowledge of contract furniture and interior finishes
- Ability to lead FF&E design and selection process, write furniture specifications and produce FF&E RFPs
- Ability to guide client through furniture selection and find solutions specific to their needs
- Primary contact with furniture dealer for FF&E coordination and project execution
- Primary contact with manufacturer’s reps to understand current interior finish and furniture product offerings
- Proficiency with drafting and 3-D rendering software (Rhino, AutoCAD, Revit) as well as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Excellent graphic, verbal and written communication skills are required

Summer Internships

Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited architecture program and be interested in pursuing a future in architecture. Interns should be passionate, curious, and work well in collaborative groups. They should have a strong design sensibility that will actively enrich of our diverse studio culture.


Responsibilities:

- Through architectural assignments, and under the supervision licensed Architects, assist with phases of project design, from conceptual design to construction administration
- Participate in cross-field research, collaboration and iterative experimentation using digital and analog technologies
- Seek creative and innovative solutions to assigned tasks and participate in developing associated research and documentation for these solutions
- Participate in physical modeling initiatives in the model shop

Requirements:
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from accredited architecture program
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, strong knowledge of drafting and 3D rendering (Revit, Rhino)
- Excellent study and presentation skills
- Experience developing design options that communicate clear concepts

- Participate in physical modeling initiatives in the model shop

Requirements
- Current enrollment in an accredited architecture program (Master 2)
- Fluent in French and English
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, strong knowledge of drafting and 3D rendering (Rhino, AutoCAD, Enscape)

Staff Accountant

Studio Gang is seeking a full-time Staff Accountant to join our Chicago office. This role will be responsible for all functions of the Accounts Payable process and will provide billing and invoicing support for all Studio Gang projects. Responsibilities range from processing accounts payable to credit card and month end reconciliations, journal entries and GL maintenance. Studio Gang manages three corporate entities, one of which is in France, which require intercompany and multi-currency accounting.

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated team player with full cycle accounting experience, strong client service skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, creative environment. In addition, this person must be detail-oriented, have excellent organizational skills, and a helpful attitude.

Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

Accounts Payable and G/L Support
- Process general accounts payable invoices and payments for three corporate entities
- Process project consultant pay-when-paid accounts payable
- Coordinate with company credit card holders and record/reconcile expenses
- Process annual 1099s and maintain vendor records
- Assist with annual financial reviews and FAR audit
- Assist with month end reconciliations and Journal Entries
- Ongoing maintenance of general ledger

Administrative Support
-Train employees on timesheet and expense report policy and procedures
- Maintain vendor and employee information in accounting system

Requirements
- 4 - 5 years accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Understanding of full G/L and full accounting cycle Accounting software system experience required, Deltek software experience is a plus, ERP system experience a plus
- Experience with multiple-currency accounting
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and expert level Excel experience
- Strong customer service and communication skills Proven track record working with highly sensitive and confidential information Excellent attention to detail, math, and organizational skills
