“Studio Gang’s dramatic Solar Carve building has … topped out next to the High Line. The office building … stands 10-stories tall, and is located on Tenth Avenue between West 13th and 14th Streets.

Now officially known as 40 Tenth Avenue, the building got its solar carve moniker from the particular design technology adopted by Studio Gang. The architecture firm describes it as ‘using incident angles of the sun’s rays to sculpt a building’s form to prevent it from casting shadows on either the adjacent High Line or the street.’”
