Business Development Director for Europe

Studio Gang is seeking an experienced, proactive Business Development Director to join our talented Marketing & Communications team full-time in our Paris office. Working directly with the Founding Partner, the Director of Business Development’s primary responsibility is to expand the growth of the Studio’s Paris office both by deepening our existing network in France and by generating new relationships and opportunities across Europe.

The focus of this role is fostering and nurturing relationships with potential clients and collaborators and identifying new business opportunities for the Studio in Europe. This will involve proactive lead development, attendance at key industry and networking events across Europe on behalf of the Studio, planning and coordinating Studio-hosted events, and researching leads and new markets. This role will involve frequent travel, both individually and alongside the Studio’s Founding Partner and other members of leadership. The Director of Business Development for Europe will also help to identifying relevant events, speaking engagements, and press opportunities that can expand the visibility and network of the Paris office and its two Design Principals.

The Director of Business Development will also be a critical link between the Paris office and the rest of the Studio. They will be a regular and close collaborator with the New York-based Marketing & Communications Principal, working together to establishing a cohesive, global strategy for growth and sharing leads, new market opportunities, and Go/No Go recommendations. They will also work alongside the Studio’s Communications and Publications professionals to forge connections with top tier news outlets, academic journals, publishers, influencers, and cultural institutions for the Studio. The Director of Business Development for Europe will be supported by a Marketing Coordinator in Paris, whose work on proposals and bids they will oversee.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, adaptable professional with an established record generating both cultural and developer leads for design-forward architectural practices in Europe. They will be excited to leverage their established network to help bring an established American firm to new levels of prominence within Europe.

Requirements include:
• 10+ years of A/E industry experience in similar role
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both French and English. Candidates with additional language fluencies strongly encouraged to apply
• Established network across Europe with a track record of generating both cultural and developer opportunities for design-led architecture firms
• Knowledge of industry trends and markets in Europe
• Exceptional interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Creative Suite strongly preferred

Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
• Building and maintaining relationships with existing and potential clients and collaborators both in France and throughout Europe
• Proactively seeking new business opportunities in Europe through networking, market research, attendance at key industry events, and strategic partnerships
• Supporting the Founding Principal in her networking, BD, and promotional efforts in Europe, including setting up business development meetings and ensuring she is properly briefed for them.
• Working with Founding Principal and alongside the Marketing & Communications Principal to develop a strategy for the Studio’s growth across Europe.
• Traveling, both independently and alongside Founding Principal and other Studio leadership, to nurture relationships and generate leads.
• Build visibility for the leadership of the Paris office by identifying speaking engagements, networking opportunities, and industry events that attract potential clients and industry collaborators.
• Monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on new and potential markets in the region on an on-going basis.
• Regularly reporting out leads, new business opportunities, and market research and making Go/No Go recommendations to the global Partnership team.
• Managing a Marketing Coordinator and her work on RFPs, bids, and submissions in Europe.
