“In 2014, only 24 percent of the deans, directors, heads, and chairs of American architecture programs were women. Today prestigious schools of architecture including Yale, Columbia, Harvard and Princeton in the United States, as well as London’s Architectural Association are led by charismatic female deans. In the professional practice several prominent architectural offices have embarked in the pay-gap closing journey, following the example of Jeanne Gang. If some of these trends, numbers and activities look promising, they are certainly not enough. We do need a cultural shift in the architectural profession as well as in academia, with a globally shared set of values and merit parameters.”
