For centuries, cities and water have been inextricably linked, with water serving as the medium of mercantile portage, as an industrial resource, and more recently as a means to fulfill contemporary recreational desires. Jeanne Gang reconsiders the edge between water and land in light of the contemporary city, seeking to expand the intersections among architecture, urban regions, water environments, and their inhabitants.
