“An endearing riff on the Chicago School, but form aside, the project’s underlying premise—to supply truly affordable housing in the heart of the Loop—deserves special attention,” said juror Germane Barnes.

Three Studio Gang projects were selected for the 2021 AN Best of Design Awards, an annual awards program by the Architect’s Newspaper that honors the best architectural designs of the year. Winning in three separate categories including Residential — Multiunit, Unbuilt — Residential, and Unbuilt — Educational; the projects span typologies and scale as well as highlight the Studio’s commitment to use design as a medium to connect people to each other, to their communities, and to the environment.
