On Sunday, October 4, Studio Gang, the Chicago Police Department, the City of Chicago, and 24th Ward Alderman Michael Scott Jr. inaugurated a new basketball court in the parking lot of the 10th District Police Station in North Lawndale.

The basketball court is a real-world example of interventions proposed by Studio Gang’s Polis Station installation for the Chicago Architecture Biennial. The court adapts a portion of the station’s under-used parking lot as part of a larger effort to create spaces for social connection where officers and neighborhood residents can interact in positive, informal ways.
