Noora Aljabi is a Design Team Member in Studio Gang’s Chicago office. Interested in architecture’s ability to serve communities and its agency in charged political and social contexts, she was drawn to the Studio for its emphasis on design as an act of public service. In her time at the office she has contributed to competition projects and the new campus for the California College of the Arts; currently, she is a member of the team redesigning Tom Lee Park in Memphis, Tennessee.
Noora earned her Master of Architecture from MIT, where she focused on issues of migration, marginalization, and spatial justice. Her work on the relationship between architecture and injustice as part of the US Sanctuary Movement was published in The Funambulist 23: Insurgent Architectures. Noora also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Kentucky, her home state. Rock climbing, hiking, exploring new places, and learning new languages are some of her favorite hobbies.
