Julien Roy is a Senior Project Leader in Studio Gang’s Paris office. His nearly fifteen years of professional experience in France comprises a number of large-scale urban projects from design through construction, including stadiums, mixed-use residential districts, and an engineering campus in Paris-Saclay. Drawn to Studio Gang for the quality of the practice’s work and its social, ecological, and technical innovation, Julien is currently the project leader of the University of Chicago Center in Paris in the 13th arrondissement. He’s also happy to play a key role bridging countries, languages, and cultures as the Studio’s Paris office takes shape.
A lifelong resident of Paris, Julien came to architecture quite naturally through the combined teachings of his grandfathers—learning furniture making from one and drawing from the other. He earned his Architecture DPLG at l’Ecole d’architecture de la ville et des territoires à Marne-la-Vallée in the east of Paris. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading books on architecture and architects, and proving his prowess on the golf course.
