Claude Labbé is Principal-in-Charge of Studio Gang's Paris office and leads business development efforts in Europe. A French civil engineer and graduate of the Ecole Spéciale des Travaux Publics de Paris, Claude began his career designing civil infrastructure—bridges, motorways, and dams—but quickly turned to the building sector, working as a contractor and consultant, as well as in-house at engineering firms. He has experience working on a wide range of projects, from the Tribunal de Paris with Renzo Piano and the Siege du Conseil Regional du Rhone with Christian de Portzamparc to the Musée Albert-Kahn with Kengo Kuma and the Laboratoire de l’Hôpital Lyon with Jean-Philippe Pargade, as well as various competitions including the Ecole Centrale de Paris with Marc Barani and the French Embassy in Berlin with Patrick Berger.
Holding several columns in French architecture magazines such as Architecture d’Aujourd’hui, Claude is the author of Un Certain Regard, a collection of writings on iconic buildings of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. In 2012 he was honored by the Academy of Architecture for his contributions to the field. He joined the Studio full-time in March 2018.
