Jeanne Gang is chairing the World Building of the Year super jury for the 2020 World Architecture Festival (WAF), the world’s largest festival dedicated to celebrating and sharing architectural excellence.
Now in its 13th year, WAF brings architects together to share ideas about the future of design. Taking place in Lisbon, Portugal from December 2-4, the WAF awards will be judged live, alongside the festival’s keynote talks, events, and an exhibition.
“Known for an inquisitive, forward-looking approach to design that unfolds new technical and material possibilities and expands the active role of designers in society, she creates striking places that connect people with each other, their communities, and the environment. Upcoming projects include an expansion to the American Museum of Natural History and the Beloit College Powerhouse, winner of the 2018 WAFX prize.”
Beloit College Powerhouse has been awarded the WAFX Prize from the World Architecture Festival. “We have been amazed by the standard of entries across this year’s future project categories and the prize winners in addressing some of humanities greatest concerns. Studio Gang’s masterful Beloit College Powerhouse Project triumphed over a very strong field,” commented Programme Director Paul Finch.
“Jeanne Gang uses architecture to build relationships. In this engaging tour of her work, Gang invites us into buildings large and small, from a surprising local community center to a landmark Chicago skyscraper.”
