James Brillon is a Design Team Member in Studio Gang’s New York office. Originally hailing from Montreal, Quebec, his path to design began with an interest in the connection between culture and architecture that led him to study architectural history. James remains fascinated by the ways in which buildings embody society and he was pulled to Studio Gang because he wanted to work for an office that takes the social responsibility of building seriously. Today he is drawing on his previous experience in cultural and planning work as he contributes to the Studio’s civic and urban-scale projects.
James holds a Master of Architecture from Columbia University GSAPP and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Université Laval in Quebec City, Quebec. Fluent in French and English, he loves to travel solo and also can get by with German, Mandarin, and Spanish. In his spare time he runs, writes, bakes all of his own bread, and attempts art projects that don’t inevitably turn into sketches of buildings.
