Ellen Anderson is a Design Team Member in Studio Gang’s Chicago office, currently engaged in cultural and education projects at multiple scales, including the National Aquarium Strategic Master Plan and Civic Commons. Ellen works with her teams to understand each project’s context and community through research that influences the design. She was originally drawn to Studio Gang for its research on and concepts for the Chicago river and lakefront, including the publication Reverse Effect and the Northerly Island project.
Ellen loves canoeing in the wilderness, especially on the lakes and rivers in her home state, Minnesota. She thinks the beach on Lake Michigan is the best place to experience the seasons (the ice breaking up in the spring is incredible!) and enjoys learning about Great Lakes cities and ecosystems.
She holds a Master’s degree in Architecture from California College of the Arts and a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
