Architect Anu Leinonen is a Design Management Director in Studio Gang’s New York office. Drawn by the Studio’s cultural-ecological approach and innovative material use, she has participated in the design of the National Aquarium Strategic Master Plan and is currently working on the American Museum of Natural History Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation.
Formerly, she managed and was a member of the design teams for projects ranging in scale from the 4,500,000-sf China Central Television Headquarters in Beijing with OMA to the 20,000-sf Hualien showroom in Taiwan with BIG. She has experienced many different cultures firsthand, living for a decade in China and several years in both the Netherlands and Germany. Her continuous exploration of cities and human culture is reflected in her photography, exploring the dichotomy between extremely designed environments and spontaneously created structures. Originally from Finland, she holds a Master of Architecture from Tampere Technical University focusing on architectural history and theory.
