Model Shop Coordinator

Studio Gang is seeking a Model Shop Coordinator to join our Chicago office. This person understands modeling as an architectural tool for design and will assist the Model Shop Directors in planning and producing physical models and mock-ups for all phases of design.

Able to move fluidly between digital and analog technologies, the Shop Coordinator demonstrates a strong understanding of the design philosophy of each project and connects all assigned tasks back to it. They seek creative solutions and develop associated research and documentation for those solutions that contribute to the design team’s progress. In addition to modeling work, they will also perform other facilities duties as assigned. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with strong verbal and graphic communication skills, attention to detail, and a desire and ability to thrive in a collaborative, creative, and open studio environment.

Requirements
- Excellent study and presentation model making skills and craftsmanship
- Experience developing design options that communicate clear concepts
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture
- Strong knowledge of drafting and 3D rendering software (Rhino, AutoCAD, Revit)
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite

Visualization Specialist

Studio Gang is seeking a Visualization Specialist for our Chicago office with experience in 2-D and 3-D architectural imaging. This individual should have a diverse interest in design and a strong ability to creatively solve complex problems. They will work collaboratively with the imaging team and architects and designers in all Studio offices on all phases of project development. The ideal candidate should be attentive to detail and an effective visual communicator. Advanced architectural collage, illustration, rendering, and animation skills are required to support the Studio’s current projects, enhance existing visualization techniques, and help engage emerging technologies. We seek an organized team member who excels at creating compelling imagery and is comfortable with the challenges of architectural workflows, design iteration, and deadlines.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or relevant field
- Demonstrated experience developing 2-D and 3-D architectural presentations
- Proficient with various digital modeling, rendering, animation, and editing software: 3ds Max, V-Ray, AutoCAD, Rhino, (Revit is a plus); Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, PowerPoint
- Experience with real-time imaging and developing VR game engine media: Unreal Engine, Unity
- Thorough understanding of 2-D and 3-D software interoperability and workflows

An interest in photography, filmmaking, sound production, and editing is a plus.

Urban Designer

We’re seeking an Urban Designer with a minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience to join our Chicago office.

Working collaboratively with a design team on multiple aspects of urban design and planning, the Urban Designer communicates overall urban design concepts, objectives, and critical issues, applying their knowledge to tasks and assignments; develops design sketches, renderings, models, and graphics for presentation materials; responds to the technical implications of urban design decisions; and facilitates studio and project goals.

This person must demonstrate a well-developed understanding of conceptual urban design documents and fundamental theories of urban design, project design, and execution. A five-year bachelor’s degree in Architecture or master’s degree in Urban Design with advanced knowledge of drafting and 3-D rendering software (Rhino, AutoCAD, Revit) is required. Prior project management and strategic planning experience is preferred.

Project Architects

We’re searching for experienced Project Architects with a minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience to join our Chicago, New York, and San Francisco offices.

Project Architects are responsible for leadership and coordination of project team members and consultants throughout all phases of design, from conceptual design through construction administration. This role will assist senior leadership in directing and managing the project team, mentoring staff, representing the firm to the client, and participating in presentations and meetings. Exceptional design talent and technical skills are required in order to oversee the planning and execution of project documents.

A five-year bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Architecture and advanced knowledge of drafting and 3-D rendering software (Rhino, AutoCAD, Revit) are required. Must have prior project management and strategic planning experience. Excellent communication and leadership skills are required. A licensed/registered architect is strongly preferred.

BIM Manager

We’re searching for a BIM Manager to join our Chicago office. The BIM Manager will develop execution plans and models for all projects; provide clean, correct reference models as each project’s Revit modeling begins; assist teams in addressing complex geometries; and provide continuing education and development for staff. This is a new position at the Studio, and one challenge will be to develop a BIM management system that can respond to our design process. The BIM Manager will also ensure that BIM systems align with the Studio’s IT infrastructure and standards and maintain updated software systems.

Requirements
A five-year bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Architecture
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Excellent Rhino, AutoCAD, and Revit skills
Experience with multiple BIM/CAD roles: training and support mentor, project team member, and strategic leader

Salary commensurate with experience.
